BALI FOOD GUIDE 2018- Local Food Stalls You Have to Visit

Here is our Bali Food Guide 2018 for local food stalls that you must visit while travelling to this Island of Gods.

1. NASI PEDAS IBU ANDIKA ( Mrs Andika Spicy Rice )

This restaurant open for 24 hours in Kuta area. They have 3 outlets around Kuta. In here, you can choose so many dishes you want from potato chips, fried chicken, fried noodle, tofu, tempe, stir vegetables, long beans, sambal / chili and others. Be careful with their sambal because it’s so spicy.

2. NASI AYAM ( Balinese Chicken Rice ) – Ubud, Denpasar & Seminyak Area

Nasi Ayam or chicken rice ala Balinese is a low-roasted chicken meat with hard-boiled egg and chicken satay skewer serve of white rice. It also has veggie long beans with coconut, salted peanuts, and don’t forget the chilies.Almost similar with suckling pig but it use chicken so can be alternative for muslim people who don’t eat pig. 

The famous stall in Ubud is named  “NASI AYAM KEDEWATAN BU MANGKU” but if you like to try similar food and avoiding the crowd you can try NASI AYAM WARUNG MARDIKA which is located near Nasi Ayam Kedewatan. Some people says their still family relatives dan have quite similar taste.

3. MAK BENG – SANUR AREA

Location: Hang Tuah Road No.45, Sanur Kaja, Sanur
Opening Hours: 08:00 – 22:00 

This legendary restaurant is located near Sanur Beach, just a short walk from the beach. It has been opened its business since 1941 and still famous until now because of cheap price and fresh fish menu. You will find long queue during the lunch time and people will be patient waiting for empty place. They are only sell simple set fish menu which is Balinese fish soup and the fried version served with chili and rice.

 

4. SATE PELECING ARJUNA

They have started their business since 1990 on a corner of Jalan Arjuna in Denpasar and only sell three dishes: the pork satay with chili sauce (sate plecing), the pork satay with sweet soya sauce (sate manis), as well as beef meatball soup. This sate is cut into small cubes and you can choose two different sauces: sweet and plecing ( spicy one ).

5. Sate Babi Bawah Pohon (pork satay under the tree)

Sate Babi Bawah Pohon  or named in English pork satay under the tree just because the place set up in a tent under a big tree in the parking lot of the public sport Gelora Tri Sakti facilities. It is quite easy to find. Just follow the sign “Warung Sate Bawah Pohon Legian” or simply follow your nose to the scent of barbecued meat and there you will find this place.

In here you will get a portion of 10 satay sticks complete with steamed ketupat or rice-cake cubes. There will be a pinch of salt with green chilies served on the side. You might find this strange, as satay is usually served with peanut sauce or sweet soy sauce but you will find the taste of those combination are really delicious. Crush the chili on top of the salt, grab one of the skewers and then tap it a bit to the salt and chili before you eat.  You will love the combination of the sweet and spicy barbecue marinade together.
